You’ve got a friend in me.
It's hard to believe how old you are now. It's been twenty-four years since we first met, and even before your parents knew you, I knew you. We’ve practically grown up together. I came into the family just nine months before you did. I remember when your older sisters were told they would be older and promoted to big sisters. Your sister Sharde’ seemed unphased, but Christina was ecstatic at the idea of being a big sister. Nobody knew what you would be or the person would become, but you arrived just after Christmas, and you are the gift that keeps giving. Throughout your childhood, I witnessed you be so imaginative and so optimistic. Sometimes I saw you down, but you always got back up and preserved.
Then there was the time when you started to spiral, and I expected you to get back up, but you didn’t. It took several months before I could tell if you were still there. After all that time, I saw you blend your younger self with what you were becoming. The optimism and imagination you had as a kid became motivation at seventeen. You set a path for yourself and stuck with it. Though I was confused about what you may do, it became clear that you wanted to help everyone.
We are here today, where you're on the verge of leaving me and starting your own family. Though things are not official, the light at the end of the tunnel is becoming brighter. Time is limited, and our moments will become fewer and far between. No matter what happens to me, our bond will last your lifetime.
