You’ve got a friend in me. It's hard to believe how old you are now. It's been twenty-four years since we first met, and even before your parents knew you, I knew you. We’ve practically grown up together. I came into the family just nine months before you did. I remember when your older sisters were told they would be older and promoted to big sisters. Your sister Sharde’ seemed unphased, but Christina was ecstatic at the idea of being a big sister. Nobody knew what you would be or the person would become, but you arrived just after Christmas, and you are the gift that keeps giving.  Throughout your childhood, I witnessed you be so imaginative and so optimistic. Sometimes I saw you down, but you always got back up and preserved. Then there was the time when you started to spiral, and I expected you to get back up, but you didn’t. Sports; how they express what an American is Sports are viewed as activities to keep people active and a pastime when we are young. As time continues, we realize that sports have way more to offer than leisurely activities and connect us all. This week we will discuss how sports can impact people and how they show the values of what it means to be an American.
